‘Allah will have mercy on Abu Dhar. He walks alone, dies alone, and resurrects alone.”

In preparation for the Battle of Tabuuk, an expedition set out from Madinah. Due to the exhaustion and fatigue, some stayed behind….Eventually the people couldn’t find Abu Dhar because his camel had slowed down. When he felt that he would be left behind, he dismounted from his camel, carried his belongings on his back and continued his route on foot over the burning desert. He hurried in order to rejoin the Holy Prophet Muhammad [upon whom be peace] and his Companions.

In the early morning, while the Muslims stopped for a while to rest, one of them saw a cloud of dust and sand and said, O Messenger of Allah, there is someone walking alone:

The Prophet [upon whom be peace] said, “It is Abu Dhar.”

Twenty years later, Abu Dhar died alone int he desert of Ar-Rabadhah, having walked a path no one else had passed over so gloriously. He is remembered alone by history for his brave resistance and his great asceticism.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] rightly said,

‘Allah will have mercy on Abu Dhar. He walks alone, dies alone, and resurrects alone.”
