“My companions are like the stars, so whichever of them you copy, you will be guided”
Sayyidina Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he heard Allah’s Messenger (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him) say this.
Many would say that as Muslims we live in the worst of times. The world news is filled with horror stories of conflicting stories to highlight the worst possible perceptions of Muslims as a people and everywhere Muslims are being persecuted and killed. It seems as if the entire world is against the Muslims…………………
Not only this, but if a person wants to learn Islam; then give him the books. Why……………because it may be near impossible to find Islam in the Muslims in our villages, towns or even in our countries.
So now more than ever, with so much temptation (fitna) pouring in from all sides, we need role models to follow. Especially where it is almost impossible to trust even our own eyes and ears…..
At this ‘worst’ time in history, we seek guidance from the ‘best generation’ the Sahabah, the companions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon him)
It was said about the Shahabah that they are like the the stars in the sky, some stronger than others, but all giving light.
My son recently gave me this book and as I read, I shall be writing about them to share with you..
Allah’s Messenger (may Allah’s blessing be upon him) had said that, ‘The best of my Ummah are the first and last’
We have no hope of being among the first……………..but perchance, if we continue to strive we may be among those who are the last……….
